Sunday May 26, 2018 – Alum Creek State Park, Columbus OH

Terrific shake down cruise on my new Specialized 29″ hard-tail mountain bike. I sold my beloved Comp to my nephew Shane when I left Idaho, presuming there would be no mountain biking in Ohio. But I was wrong. Certainly OH does not have the long climbs found in the west; nor is there a danger of coming around a bend and seeing something as majestic as the peaks of the Tetons directly in front. But it was still a very acceptable mountain bike trail. Technically challenging and made a bit more so by my getting acquainted with a new bike and being unfit.

It was 95 degrees on this day, so thankfully most of the riding was in the shade.

When I get back from Europe I will get down to Hocking Hills and Chilicothe as those trails are longer and have better climbs.

95 degrees and a spare tube around the waist – not a recipe for success
