Today was the day I predicted that things would come to a head at work. We will see. It seems obvious to me that we are not anywhere near where we need to be for a January go-live; we would be crazy to think the system in current state could run the business. But for now, the bosses are marching on. Flogging the team to row harder and faster.
Anyway. Down to my last few days on this trip. Fly to Amsterdam Friday and then home on Monday, via Dublin. Always good to be home and to see the Little Dog.
Trump crazy train continues to roll. He recently declared in an interview that he was convinced the Federal Reserve was making a big mistake by increasing interest rates because “I have a gut, and my gut tells me more sometimes than anybody else’s brain can ever tell me”. Yup. That’s a quote.
Same interview, he explained why he does not believe the climate change report from his own administration. “One of the problems that a lot of people like myself, we have very high levels of intelligence but we’re not necessarily such believers. You look at our air and water, and it’s right now at a record clean.” Yup. That’s a quote.
First, does he really confuse global warming with air and water quality? Secondly, air and water quality is decent now because of years of good legislation to rehabilitate from our past bad behaviors—but the Trump administration is doing all they can to dismantle the regulations that keep air and water clean.
He doesn’t believe the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Saman of Saudi ordered the killing of Khashoggi because “he denies it”. Yup. Quote. ‘He denied it’, so therefore the CIA is wrong.
Comedy gold. Except for all the damage done by his mental retardation or whatever disability influences his illiterate and uninformed behaviors. He is the starkest possible contrast to Obama’s thoughtful intelligence, sincerity, articulate manner, and general eloquence.
And yet I keep bumping in to people who continue to support Trump. Many tell me things like ‘well I don’t agree with his tweets and some of the things he says, but his policies are helping the country’. What policies? He’s done nothing except expand the deficit through the ridiculous tax cut. And character doesn’t matter in elected officials or anyone else for that matter? Would we tolerate perpetual liars, bullies and braggarts as teachers of our children? Our mayor? Our Fire chief? Our manager? Our banker? Our butcher, baker, or candle-stick maker? I don’t want some dipshit making my candles or cutting my steaks. I want honestly and integrity and clarity of purpose.
